And so it begins!

We explored history through paintings and artifacts. It’s time to warm up and stretch your bones and muscles because we are about to put the very first check mark on our bucket list and it is none other than National Museum located at Luneta. We have decided that it would

be the best place to visit first

because it is important for a Millennial to know the significance of our history. Hold your thoughts; we know that this might not be the

ideal place for creating instagrammable photos but in a brighter sense the knowledge that you can gain from visiting National Museum is priceless.

But this doesn’t mean the place is completely boring, in fact it can offer artistic and creative paintings that will help you achieve that perfect image to post in social media.

So start preparing your

bags and a high memory space in your phone because we are about to roll out. The best way to get there is to use LRT line 2 then once you have arrived at Recto Station, just across the street there are PUV that are going to Mabini.

This will lead you to Luneta and from there start moving

your feet and locate National Museum. Upon entering, the employees are very strict at the same time nice.

Just try to remember the rules they will give you and avoid violating it.

There is no entrance fee although you need to register from the lobby. You can leave your baggage at the left side and it is very interesting because from the guard that will check your bag

from the employee that will take care of your bags, they kept on

reminding us the rules inside the Museum.

A large Spoliarium painting of Juan Luna will be the first one to greet you. It’s just amazing because no matter how many times we saw it, it still never fails to give us goose bumps.

In the hallway, there are sculptures mostly religion related. I just want you to know that there are many rooms in the National Museum and each room has a specific category. But we would not

include it all we would just mention the best, and I mean by the best are the parts that really made a special space in our hearts. There is this room that is full of sketches of famous artist. To be honest, witnessing those makes me feel a little bit proud of myself because I think I can do it as well but not as good as them obviously.

Kidding aside, it is weird that even their sketches are already considered to be an art, though it is certainly great. It’s hard to deny that there sketches are still better than our finish product. This gives me an idea that life is sometimes unfair. Inside other room, it is a room fully dedicated to Guilermo Tolentino, actually all of his awards are even on frame. His works are displayed there and if ever you are not familiar with him, just look at Oblation at University of the Philippines and Bonifacio Monument.

Imagine how great it is, people respecting your works and a whole room dedicated to you only, best feeling ever. After a short walk you will arrive at a room full of paintings with strong messages within.

Mostly about poverty and some are tragic events in martial law, especially on torturing individuals. But don’t get me wrong it is not gross at all; actually if you will see it on person it is actually life

changing. Also, paintings that portray all of our former presidents is included, to be honest I really didn’t expect this one but it made me realize that not all of us know the correct order of our presidents, no doubt. After all those colorful artworks, there is this place wherein the portraits are colorless, black and white. A beautiful display of photography is shown within the room; the subject is more like indigenous people and their lifestyle.

The portraits convey a powerful message and the black and white effect really helps it deliver in a good way. But please, doesn’t mean your photo is black and white doesn’t mean it shows a great display of photography, people nowadays make me sigh.

From black and white paintings with a low atmosphere, let’s visit a room filled with high spirit sculptures. Once, you enter this room you can really feel the change in ambiance not because the room is colder than other but the sculptures seems to be fragile for no reason. I forgot to mention the elegant chandelier with a mirror

below; I think that is more fragile. It is so glamorous that even that is the only thing in your house, your home can be still considered great.

After the entire walk, this makes me realize that all along the greatest masterpiece inside the National Museum is without a doubt the long brown bench. Because of all artworks, this is the only one that comforts

the squad. How could I been so blind? The bench was there all along, how deceiving.
