Castle in the City? Where all over the area was surrounded by solid

and lofty walls which protect it from being invaded? These are the things that come in our mind when the first time I see the place that is also called

“The Walled City”,

the Intramuros. Intramuros is one of the oldest architectural sites in

Manila; it is a 400 years old wall that was built for defensive purposes. It has 7 main gates where you can pass to get inside of it. Because of its astonishing structure like an ace of spade when you see it in top view, it becomes one of the tourist spot in the city. And if you want to discover more about Intramuros,

join our trip! Just fasten your seatbelt and become amaze to the wonderful things waiting for you!

The destination starts on riding at LRT 1 and get off to

United Nation station, and you can stroll 15-20 minutes to arrive at one of the gates of Intramuros.

At the front of the gate, there are people that will tour you around the wall but you can also wall with your friends or travel buddies. As we wander inside of the walled city, we find out that there are lots of historical sites inside of it like a chest box full of treasures! But take note to the entrance fees! The first thing that catches our attention is the

Pamantasang Lungsod ng Maynila (PLM), one of the famous schools in the city

and yet it is inside of it and being guarded by walls! You can also see inside of it the

Fort Santiago.

It is a place where our national hero, Jose Rizal is being imprisoned and also there you can see the Rizal Shrine.

In Intramuros is where you can visit the San Agustin Church and Museum. It is the oldest church in the Philippines that shows paintings, sculptures and religious arts and also the Manila Cathedral Church where it serves as the

resting place of the former archbishop of Manila.

You can also head in the

Bahay Tsinoy that displays life-sized diorama of early Chinese settlers in the Philippines and one of it is famous “sari-sari Store”. At last, we climb up in one of the walls of Intramuros.

There you can stay and relax after the journey but warning! Be careful in falling balls! Because outside the wall is an area w

here you can play golf. We made lots of fun and memories to be treasured. And as we rest above the walls, we feel the venerable ambiance and notice the big difference between the Spanish Era to the new century that we are living today. It is great to see that there are places that being valued and preserved for us to commemorate the important place which plays a significant role in the past. Also, it would be better to go there with your friends to have a better experience where you can share your learning to each other as you travel that will also build new memories with them at the same time. So, let’s go!
